3 Legged Thing last year had a crowd fund for their new camera straps which I was interested in but didn’t join in. What they were showing were products that looked liked they could replace my BlackRapid Cross Shot camera strap.
The BlackRapid Cross Shot camera strap attaches to the camera via a hook that you attach to the bottom of the camera and then to the strap via a carabiner type clip. The strap then goes diagonally across yourself rather than just round your neck.
My problem with this system was that it wasn’t very fast to take on and off. The carabiner clip has a screw lock so that it wouldn’t open by accident and the hook on the camera meant that it was impossible to put it on to a tripod quickly.
However, the 3 Legged Thing AXIS 34 comes with a quick release system that you push and click in place.
It comes with a QD4 Arca-Swiss plate so is very easy on a tripod or on your body.
There are two other sizes, 24 and 44. You can also get all three sizes in either padded or non padded. I chose the non padded version so I can’t tell you if I think the padding will wear out in a few years time. Many of the straps that were in the box with the camera usually fell apart around the padding after daily use.
The 3 Legged Thing AXIS 34 is a worthy upgrade.
